JD, it does. And when it's not cupcakes, it might as well be cold, cheap, greasy pizza. Most of the times, the one nobody likes is all that's left - the vegetarian one - because we can have a DEI day hosted by HR but attendance will be on basis of business needs.

DEI, whatever it’s original intention is now, in and of itself, a blunt instrument used to enforce conformity around a quasi-religious dogma. Real diversity is diversity of thought and mind. A proper work culture that cares only for the ethical execution of its mission will see trivial differences in employees demographics to be just that, trivial (who cares how much melanin is in a coworkers skin or who they prefer to be intimate with, that’s their business, our business is together making our business successful).
